Dr. Rod Hartshom joined Avenues Pet Clinic the year founder Dr. Jean Cotton opened it in 1983, first working relief, then as an Associate veterinarian. Starting in 2005, he joined APC as an owner of the clinic and Medical Director. He still finds himself energized by the terrific patients and their devoted owners. For 36 years, each day at the Avenues continues to be a wonderful and fulfilling experience.

He graduated from the University of California at Davis, and is board-certified by both the American College of Laboratory Medicine (ACLAM) and the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine (ACVPM). I am also a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.

In addition to his love of the practice, he served 21 years in the Air Force Veterinary Corps. Dr. Hartshom and his wife, Laura, raise and competitively show Miniature Schnauzers, 41 of which have earned their AKC Championships.
