Dr. Rod Hartshorn, DVM | Associate Veterinarian
I joined Avenues Pet Clinic the year founder Dr. Jean Cotton opened it in 1983, first working relief, then as an Associate veterinarian. Starting in 2005, I joined Avenues Pet Clinic as an owner and the Medical Director. As of 2021, I’ve stepped down as Medical Director though I am still seeing patients.
After almost 38 years, I still find myself energized by our terrific patients and their devoted owners. Each day at the Avenues continues to be a wonderful and fulfilling experience.
I graduated from the University of California at Davis, and am board-certified by both the American College of Laboratory Medicine (ACLAM) and the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine (ACVPM). I am also a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
In addition to my love of the practice, I served 21 years in the Air Force Veterinary Corps. My wife Laura and I raise and competitively show Miniature Schnauzers, 41 of which have earned their AKC Championships.
